Set up a playing field measuring 20x35 meters/22x38 yards using four poles placed at the corners. Place two standard goals at the center of the two short sides of the field. Divide the field in half using cones to mark the midfield line. Position two defenders and two attackers in each half of the field. Two additional teammates per team stand outside the playing area, on either side of the opposing goal, and act as support players.
Description
- A 4 v 4 game is played on the field with two attacking support players on each side
- The objective of the game is to shoot at the opponent’s goal, aiming to score from close range
- To set up the shot, the forwards can use the support players positioned on the end line
- The support players must always create a passing lane by moving laterally
- Switch the players’ roles after each set

Rules
- Players on the field are allowed free ball touches
- Support players play with a maximum of three touches
- The ball must be played only on the ground
- Players must remain in their own half of the field (a fixed 2 v 2 game is played in each zone)
- Play always starts with the goalkeeper in possession, who may choose to pass the ball to a teammate in their own zone, play to a forward in the opposite half, or directly serve a support player
- A goal scored on the first touch with an assist from a support player counts double
Variations
- Support players play one-touch
Coaching Points
- When shooting, the kicking foot must strike the center of the ball with the instep
- Keeping the arms outstretched helps the player maintain balance
- The player who does not take the shot must be ready to react to the rebound
- Shoot on goal as soon as an opening appears
- Focus on the forwards’ movement to evade the opponent’s marking
- Focus on individual marking and two-man zone marking in both halves of the field
- Maintain high intensity throughout the drill in all phases of the game
