Place a goal (of a size suitable for the category being trained) within the area set up for the exercise. About 30 meters/33 yards from the goal, create a triangle with three cones representing the vertices (orange); place a player wearing a different colored jersey on each cone (red, blue, and yellow in the picture). Place a pole about 10 meters/11 yards from the starting triangle, in the direction of the goal. Diagonally to the goal and the starting triangle of the exercise, precisely in the center, form a 2-meter-wide mini goal using two cones (yellow in the picture). Place the defenders (green players) behind the mini goal. Behind the goal, where the exercise will end, create a course consisting of a cone indicating the starting point for the players (orange cone), a speed ladder, three hurdles, five hoops arranged as shown in the picture, and a pole.
- Players wearing different colored jerseys (red, yellow, blue) begin a combination of passes in the triangle, rotating positions among themselves (1, 2, 3, and 4 in the figure), while the players behind the goal dribble individually (each with a ball)
- At a specific signal from the coach (e.g., a whistle), the player of the three positioned in the starting triangle who has possession of the ball (blue in the example) starts dribbling the ball toward the pole in front of them. At the same time, their teammate behind the goal wearing the same color jersey leaves the ball on the ground and starts the motor skills course (5)
- The player (blue) dribbling the ball goes past the pole with a dribble and passes the ball inside the mini goal (yellow cones) to the defender (6)
- The defender controls the ball between the cones, while the blue player continues to advance towards the goal (7)
- The defender returns the ball to the blue attacker (8) and quickly takes up position to defend the goal
- Depending on the context, after receiving the ball, the player (blue) can decide whether to play 1v1 with the defender or to collaborate with the teammate who has completed the motor skills course and has moved into a supporting position in the final 2v1 situation for the goal
After the action the 2 blue players swap their positions while the defender moves back to the group.
- At the end of each series, reverse the starting positions of the three groups of players. In this way, all players will perform the different situations included in the exercise
Attacking players:
- Extend as much as possible the attacking range
- Don't stay on the same line to balance and facilitate the combination
- The player with the ball has to attack the defender
- The one who doesn't have the ball must choose whether to attack deep or offer support
- Pay attention to offside rule
- Use game combinations for 2 players
Defending players:
- Stay between the opponent, the ball and the center of the goal
- Raise the offside line
- Block the possible pass and play 1 v 1
- Try to understand the intentions of ball carrier
