Ball possession by sectors: regain possession only when in numerical balance |
Positioning, Defensive shape, Man on man |
Organization
Create a 40x40-meter/44x44-yard square divided into four equal sectors. Form two teams of four players each and add two neutral players to support possession.
Description
- A ball possession is played with numerical superiority
- The defending team can only regain possession by entering the area where the ball is located with the same number of players as their opponents
- If the defenders enter with a different number (superiority or inferiority), the regain is not valid and possession remains with the opponents
Rules
- Every five completed passes count as 1 point
- Possession can only be gained when there is numerical balance in the area where the ball is located
Variations
- Use two goals: you can score after at least four consecutive passes
Coaching Points
- Individual defense: focus on individual duels, loosen marking in the area furthest from the ball, manage numerical inferiority with delaying actions
- Group defense: calling for the ball to be played out, man-on-man marking in the square where the ball is
- Offensive players: looking for the weak side, encouraging combinations to escape pressure
