Zone analysis: Heatmap and Assist Zone

With YouCoach App, you can use specific graphs such as heat maps and maps of “goal zones” and “assist zones.” These graphs not only show you the percentages of goals scored and assists coming from certain areas of the field, but also help you identify where your team is most prolific or most vulnerable.

The role of relationships between players

A unique feature offered by YouCoach App is the ability to examine the relationships between players, i.e., how long each player trains with each teammate in situational exercises, or in general in exercises where there are at least two teams.

Thanks to heat maps, goal zones, and assist zones, we can understand how the relationships created between players influence dynamics such as scoring a goal.

Thanks to the ability to divide the group into teams and track who plays with whom, the app generates a table that highlights how much time each player spends with their teammates. This “relational time” may explain why certain actions originate from specific areas of the field.

Let's use an example: from the heatmaps, the goal zones and assist zones graphs, we can see that in the last month there has been a marked difference in the percentage of goals scored from the right side compared to the left side. The first thing to do is to filter the matches for the last week and analyze the players who played in the different areas of the field. Once we have found the players, we can go to the dashboard, filter the data by entering the last month, and look at the relational time table, considering only the players who played in the last matches of the month in question.

At this point, we can immediately see if there is a relationship between the relational time of players who played in one zone compared to those who played in the other.

The same example can also apply to goals conceded. At this point, we can ask ourselves: do players really know how their teammates behave?

From practice to the game: understanding why

It's not just about understanding where the goals come from, but also why. YouCoach App allows you to link this data to the exercises carried out in training: you can see which exercises and which combinations of players favor certain game dynamics.
