Oriented control and shooting on goalkeeper's signal

Summary

Exercise to train oriented control and shooting at goal

Organization

Form a 3x3 meters square using the markers near the box line. Place 2 diagonal lines of cones at the sides of the square, color sorted and sequential numbered (as shown in the figure). Random numerical order. Set a starting marker 35 meters distant from the goal and centrally. Divide the players behind the starting marker and near the square.

Description

  • The attacking player waits for the goalkeeper's signal inside the square
  • The goalkeeper specifies the color and the number of the cones where the attacking player have to receive the ball (ex. in the figure 1-YELLOW)
  • The player at the starting marker after the signal passes the ball on the specified cone
  • The attacking player gets the ball and performs an oriented control turning towards the goal
  • The attacking player carries the ball towards the box then shoots at goal
  • After the shot, the attacking player gets back the ball and inverts the role with the player that passed the ball

Variations

  1. Increase the number of cones

Coaching Points

  • The players have to control efficiently the ball to avoid the cone
  • Shoot from outside the box if possible
