Create a 28×25-meter/30×27-yard field using markers. Two teams of five players are placed on the field, with one goalkeeper per team. Players must form pairs that will remain the same for the duration of the series. It is up to the coach to decide whether to form pairs based on roles or to allow players to switch roles freely so that all players can experience different space-time combinations.
- A free game is played in which the objective for both teams is to score goals
- The players, being constantly marked, must move and try to unmark from their opponents in order to find better timing and space to play
- Counter-movement and occupying space in relation to the movements of teammates and opponents are very important
- Opponents cannot be swapped, so if a player wins their 1v1, this will create situations of numerical superiority for the attackers and inferiority for the defenders
- It is very important to use the goalkeeper, as they are the only player who is not marked
- The game is played with free touches
- Goals can be scored at any time (there are no passing restrictions)
- Allow players to switch positions: this also helps them to work on communication and organization when they are not in possession, while when they are in possession, positioning themselves in the intermediate areas (between opponents) complicates the defensive phase and could leave more space free for those in possession
- Players with the ball:
- It is very important to pay attention to passing and receiving in order to make the next move
- It is crucial to constantly break away from your opponent to free yourself
- Pay attention to your surroundings to understand where and how to unmark
- Players without the ball:
- Direct and guide pressure
- Press forward strongly on your opponent
- Attack when the ball is lost
