Summary
Exercise for goalkeepers to train deflection technique and positional awarenessSecondary Objectives
Goalkeeper skills, Technique for getting up, Diving save technique, Goalkeeper positioning, Vestibular information, Peripheral vision, Explosive strength, 1 against GoalkeeperOrganization
The goalkeeper, with a ball in the hand, kneels on the right knee about 50 centimeters/1 foot and a half in front of the goal line. The trainer, with a ball in their hands, stands 4 meters/yards in front of the goalkeeper.
Description
- The goalkeeper throws the ball with the left hand to the trainer, who simultaneously throws a ball at mid-height to the right
- The goalkeeper, from a kneeling position, must dive to try to deflect the ball to the right
- After 5 repetitions, the exercise is performed on the opposite side
Variations
- Two poles are placed on either side of the goal (one on the goal line 1 meter from the goal area line and one parallel to the first in the playing area at a distance of 4 meters/yards). The diving goalkeeper must try to deflect the ball into the space between the two poles

- A player stands 1 meter away from the mini goal formed by the poles. When the goalkeeper deflects the ball toward the correct area, the player recovers the deflected ball and attempts to score a goal without restrictions. The goalkeeper quickly gets up and goes to perform a 1v1 between player and goalkeeper

Coaching Points
