Summary

Useful drill to train passes, losing your marker and positioning for young soccer players.

Organization

Create three squares of 4x4 meters using markers. Place one player inside each square. Give a ball to one of the external players.

Description

  • External players have to pass the ball with quick low shots avoiding that the central player intercept it
  • If the central player intercept it, they attack the player who lost the ball trying to take the ball beyond the lateral side of the square
  • If the central player exits the square they swap role with the player that made the mistake
  • Free ball touches

Variations

  1. Perform the drill with 3 ball touches max
  2. Perform the drill with 2 ball touches max

Coaching Points

  • Pay attention to how passes are performed and how the ball is controlled
  • When players have 2 ball touches max, pay attention to ball control
  • Right timing to play and then recover
