Exercise for shooting at goal with 3 players, with unmarking movements and oriented receiving |
First touch, Oriented control, Losing your marker, Pass, Shooting, Combination play for scoring, Attack the goal, Cut, Losing your marker, Threaded pass, defense splitting pass |
Place a pair of cones 5 meters apart in front of the goal, 2 meters from the edge of the penalty area. 6 meters from the pair of cones, towards the middle of the field, place a second pair of cones and then another 6 meters away from the second pair, place a third pair of cones: this creates two central rows consisting of three cones 5 meters apart (as shown in the picture). The players are divided into two groups of three (three red players and three white players). Each player stands near a cone in a zigzag formation for each team, i.e., the players stand in a diagonal line relative to each other for shooting at the goal (as in the picture). The first two players on each team, who are on the pair of cones furthest from the goal, start with the ball. The goalkeeper defends the goal.
The exercise involves two ball passes to send the third teammate to shoot at the goal (3-player passing chain with shot on goal)
Progression 1
- A passes the ball diagonally to B
- B controls the ball oriented forward, and passes it diagonally to C
- C, after an oriented reception towards the goal, shoots
Progression 2
- A passes the ball diagonally to B
- B controls the ball and passes it to C, who is making a wide unmarking movement (moving out wide to open up space)
- C controls the ball and shoots at goal
Progression 3
- A passes the ball diagonally to B
- B controls the ball and passes it in depth to C, who is making a cutting run between the two cones (central movement attacking depth)
- C shoots at goal, preferably one-touch
- At the end of each action, the three players rotate their starting positions in the progression (A moves to B's place, B moves to C's place, and C moves to A's place)
- The red players and white players take turns
- The shot on goal must be taken one touch or after an oriented reception
- After the first series, reverse the positions of the two groups of players
- If there are several players available, have each player move forward toward the goal after shooting. Those who have shot move to the back of their group's line and wait for their turn
- Pay attention to the orientation and movement of the player who shoots at goal
- Check that the movements made by the player shooting at goal are performed correctly and at the right time (initial counter-movement to prepare the space to attack, correct body posture for receiving the ball, timing of the attack on space to avoid being caught offside)
- Give intensity to the ball passing in the exercise (intensity and precision of kicking)
