Organization
Use four cones to create a 20x20-meter/22x22-yard playing area. Place markers inside the area to form mini-goals 2 meters wide. Place one white player with a ball on each side of the square. Place the four red players inside the playing square.
Description
- At the coach's signal, the four red players each sprint towards a white player
- Each white player passes the ball through the mini-goal to the corresponding red player
- The red players control the ball by touching it to make it go through the goal, then pass it back to their teammate
- The exercise continues, changing the white player to receive the pass each time
- After 4 minutes, the teams switch roles
Variations
- The players positioned on the sides perform a high pass with their hands to their teammates inside the playing area
- The players inside must return the ball with a controlled touch using the inside of their foot, outside of their foot, neck, or on the volley, depending on the situation and technical level
Coaching Points
- After controlling the ball, the player must be very quick to move sideways and pass the ball back to their teammate
- Technical warm-up useful for youth teams
- Players inside the playing area must remain highly focused and always choose the teammate who is free on the sides so as not to create confusion
