Thrusts with a ball

Summary

Exercise for motor control and core stability

Organization

Arrange the markers on three lines (if possible, use a field line as the center line) to form many small 3×3-meter rings.

Description

Players arrange themselves in pairs inside each ring, place their hands on the ball, and at the coach's signal begin to push to invade their opponent's court. You get one point each time you succeed in invading your opponent's field with both feet.

Rules

  • Always keep your torso tilted forward and push the ball without touching your teammate's hands
  • As soon as you get the point, move back into position to resume play. At each end of series, a point is awarded to the person who has invaded the opponent's court the most times. At the end of the sets count who won the most

Coaching Points

  • Players will have a lot of fun: it is good to make them understand that they can have fun but maintain order and respect for the rules of the game
  • Move between pairs making each player feel under observation
  • If it rains, have them dry their hands and the ball to prevent the ball from slipping
  • Ensure that players push with one leg forward and one leg back, not at even feet, so as to make the best use of the lower limb thrust
  • Leave players free to choose and rehearse pushing with both arms outstretched and arms flexed, so that on their own they find the solution that gives them the most confidence
