Technical activation to train reading trajectories and aerial play

Summary

Exercise to be used during warm-up to train reading trajectories and aerial play

Organization

Place two markers on either side of the mini-goal and one vertically behind it. The players line up on each marker and one (the striker) in front of the mini-goal. The inactive players wait behind their teammate who starts with the ball (starting position).

Description

  • Player A passes the ball to teammate B
  • B, after controlling the ball, passes it to player C
  • C plays back to teammate B
  • B, after receiving the pass, lifts the ball over the mini goal, trying to set up teammate D, who is in front of the goal, for a volley
  • With each repetition, the players move up the line following the path of the ball (changing their position within the sequence each time)

Rules

  • The goal must be scored on the fly (volley) or according to the coach's specific instructions
  • At the end of each series, change the starting side

Variations

  1. The goal can only be scored with a header, only with other parts of the body, only on the volley with the weaker foot, only with an acrobatic move, only on the rebound

Coaching Points

  • Encourage kids' creativity in finding acrobatic moves
  • Encourage players not to be afraid of contact with the ball
  • Encourage kids to try playing with their weaker foot
