Inside the playing area, create a diamond-shaped technical station with a diagonal of approximately 20 meters/22 yards. Place three mannequins on three corners; a fourth one should be placed in the center of the diamond (if mannequins are not available, use four pairs of crossed poles). Place a marker on the corner of the diamond that represents the starting point of the passing sequences (A). Place two mini goals 10 meters/11 yards to the left and right of the starting marker A (if mini goals are not available, use cones). The goals, 1.5 meters wide, face the mannequins. Two players line up with the ball at the starting point A and four other players near the four mannequins (B, C, D, and D1).
- At the coach's signal, player A passes the ball to B with their back to the central mannequin. B receives the ball after unmarking by moving away from the mannequin (opening)
- Player B, after controlling the ball to move vertically, passes to C, who receives the ball after a long-short countermovement behind his reference mannequin, diagonally to B
- Player C controls the ball in the direction of D
- Player D, after a countermovement outside-inside, makes a “cut” run to receive the ball in the space in front of or behind the mannequin. C passes the ball to D. After controlling the ball, D shoots at the mini goal in front of him, recovers the ball, and returns to the line (precision shot)
- Next, player A (who has taken B's place) opens up on the opposite side, passing the ball diagonally to B (who has taken C's place), who will finish with an assist for teammate D1, who will shoot at the opposite goal (reverse chain)
- The exercise is a play and follow. The players move positions according to the sequences A-B-C-D and A-B-C-D1 alternately
- The passing sequences develop in reverse order to reach the conclusion alternately in the goal on the right and in the one on the left of the starting marker
- Perform all types of oriented control alternating both feet: weak foot and strong foot
- Control the ball with one foot and pass it with the other
- Perform the exercise in the form of an individual competition
- By increasing the distances, the pass from C to D can be made with an aerial trajectory
- B returns the ball with a pass to A after a “man” call, and A passes the ball to C behind the marker (a flank play between A and B)
- Player D receives the ball in space after making a pass to C, who called “man” (code for passing the ball and attacking the depth)
- Player D lowers himself and receives the ball at his feet with an approaching movement; the space behind the outer mannequin is attacked by C with an external or internal overlapping movement to his teammate
- Force player D to kick into the goal one-touch
- Check the positioning of the player who is about to receive the ball
- Pay attention to the timing of the movement and the space to attack when making a “cut” run from position D
- The first ball control should be in the direction you want to go
- Encourage players to perform the exercise at a fast pace
- Respect the timing of the game without starting too early or too late
- Speed and intensity of ball transmission
- There should be little time between control and pass
