Take advantage of the opening of the game to laterally attack the penalty area |
Passing, Shooting, Midfielder, Forward, Center forward, Turned dribbling, Pass, Finishing |
The area in which the exercise takes place is adjacent to the penalty area. Place a pole approximately 7-8 meters/yards from the penalty area, in a central position. Place a marker approximately 10 meters/11 yards from the pole, centrally (yellow marker in the picture: starting position of the attacker). Use two pairs of markers to create two gates approximately 3 meters wide, one to the right and one to the left of the central pole. The two gates are positioned diagonally between the central pole and the two corners of the penalty area (as shown in the figure). The players start from marker (A) with the ball. One player (B) stands at the post with their back to the goal. The goalkeepers take turns defending the goal.
- Player A, with the ball, passes to their teammate near the pole (pass shown in the picture)
- Player B receives the ball and dribbles with their back to the goal, going around the obstacle and facing the attacker
- Player A sprints sideways past the target to receive the ball
- Player B returns the ball to A with a pass through the gate on the side where the teammate is entering
- Player A receives the ball, cuts back towards the center of the area, and finishes the move with a curved shot towards the far post
- At the end of the action, player B recovers the ball and takes his place in line at the starting point, while A remains at the post waiting for the pass from the next teammate
- Perform one action developing to the right and one action developing to the left (alternating continuously)
- Every two actions, change the player standing near the post (making a pass on the right and one on the left)

- The center forward's finishing should be performed by passing through the two gates of markers placed diagonally on the run of the teammates
- Increase or reduce the size of the gates
- The player on the post follows the action to respond to a possible save by the goalkeeper or to receive a cross from a teammate if it is too far from the goal
- Instead of the post, insert a player who acts as a defender and applies passive pressure
- Accuracy in passes by the player who performs the lateral assist
- The striker runs at full speed
- Make players kick with both feet
- There must be trained no more than 10 players at a time to avoid long recovery times
- The central pole should be bypassed by pretending it is an opponent.
