Organization

Use the markers to create a rectangular playing area measuring 40x30 meters/44x33 yards. Inside the rectangle, play 7 v 7 plus a neutral player (yellow in the picture). Outside the playing area, place one neutral player (yellow) on each side, for a total of four external players around the perimeter of the playing area who act as supports. Inside the playing area, place eight mini goals formed by cones. The width of the goals is approximately 1 meter.

Description
  • Inside the playing rectangle, there is a 7 v 7 ball possession game (reds against whites)
  • One team attacks and aims to score a goal by passing the ball to a teammate through one of the mini goals positioned in the playing area. If the teammate manages to control the ball that has been passed to them between two cones (one of the mini goals) without being intercepted by an opponent, the team scores a point
  • The other team defends the goals and, once they have won the ball, must keep it for as long as possible using the neutral players (yellow) to maintain possession
  • The team in possession of the ball can use a neutral player inside the playing area (yellow) to manage the ball in numerical superiority.
  • When the defending team wins the ball, it switches to playing in numerical superiority using all the yellow players; it must maintain possession of the ball by using the inside neutral player and the outside supports
  • Therefore, one team aims to score in the mini goals, while the other aims to maintain possession of the ball for as long as possible
  • Each time the attacking team scores a goal (point through the mini goal), it can pass the ball to an external yellow player to bring it into play within the possession area (rectangle), thus exploiting an extra man in the ball possession phase

Rules
  • After a minimum of five passes inside the rectangle, the ball must be played to a neutral player so that they can enter the playing area
  • Before another neutral player can enter, a goal must be scored through one of the goals
  • Each goal is worth one point
  • If the team defending the goals recovers the ball, it can take possession with two touches using the outside neutral players and the one to run down the clock. If the ball leaves the playing rectangle, possession returns to the attacking team
  • At the end of each series, the roles and tasks of the two teams are reversed (each team will play an offensive role for two series and a defensive role for two series)
Variations
  1. Limit the number of touches to players (including neutral players)
Coaching Points
  • It is important to focus the team on constant movement without the ball, given their numerical superiority (creating as many passing lanes as possible for the ball carrier)
  • When the ball is lost, don't wait to put pressure on the opponents to win it back immediately (transition phases)
  • Encourage mobility, unmarking movements, and occupation of space
  • Encourage speed of maneuver, intensity, and quality of play so as not to give easy references to the team applying pressure
