Use an area of 30×30 meters/33×33 yards. On one side, in the center, place a starting marker where player A will stand with a ball. Opposite to the starting marker, on the other side, place a mini goal. In the center of the square, between the starting marker and the mini goal, place three cones in a row 10 meters/11 yards apart. Place one attacker on each cone (B, C, D in the picture). Place two defenders between the cones and the goal (red players in the picture).
Description
- At the start signal, one of the three attackers between B, C, or D makes a long-short countermovement to unmark and meet teammate A
- A passes the ball to the attacker who has approached, and from there a 4 v 2 situation begins with the attacking team's aim of scoring in the mini goal while avoiding pressure from the two defenders
- To score, the three attackers must seek depth behind the defenders
- Halfway through the series, replace the players on the field with other players waiting off the field
Rules
- The three cones represent the offside line
Variations
- Use a regulatory goal with a goalkeeper
Coaching Points
- Check that the countermovement is performed correctly
- Focus on the concepts of offensive marking: timing of the attack (attack on goal) and space to be gained for the goal
- Observe the players' movements (unmarking and movement without the ball for attacking in depth)
