4 v 2 rondo on two triangles |
Vestibular information, Peripheral vision, Oriented control, Losing your marker, Positioning, Intercepting, Possession triangles, Screening the defensive line |
Organization
Create two triangles side by side with sides measuring 5 meters. The two defenders stand inside each triangle. The players who must maintain possession stand outside the sides of the triangles, as shown in the picture.
Description
- The objective of the outside players is to maintain possession of the ball; they must always pass the ball within the triangles without the inside defenders intercepting it
- The player in the space between the two triangles has the objective of passing the ball from one triangle to the other whenever possible (switch play)
- When the inside defender recovers the ball, they take the place of the player whose pass they intercepted
Rules
- Playing with two touches
- Passes must always be made within the triangles
- Defenders only play within their own triangle
Variations
- Change the maximum number of touches
- When the inside player recovers the ball, they must be able to take it outside the playing field; in this way, we encourage a reaction to both the positive transition of the defender and the negative transition of the outside players
Coaching Points
- For players in possession of the ball:
- It is very important that the rondo is performed at maximum intensity
- Pay attention to the player's body orientation, checking that they are “open” in the direction of play and their teammates
- The pass must be made with the right intensity
- Pay attention to the time between control and pass, trying to reduce it
- The ankle must remain rigid when touching the ball, paying attention to the point of impact of the foot on the ball
- Pay attention to the direction and distance of the supporting foot from the ball
- The technical movement must be performed with the head up: encourage players to focus their attention on the game, making ball control automatic
- Encourage players to think before the ball arrives
- Try to gradually encourage your players to play one-touch
- For players not in possession of the ball:
- Pay attention to body posture: knees bent, torso upright, eyes on the ball
- Pay attention to the frequency of footwork, encouraging defenders to always be ready for a sudden change of direction
