Create a square of 20x20 meters/22x22 yards and inside of it form another square of 15x15 meters/16x16 yards. Inside the smaller square place two teams consisting of three players each (red and white team in the picture) and two neutral players. Keep a good supply of balls outside the playing area to give continuity to ball possession.
Description
- A 3 v 3 ball possession is played within the smaller square
- The team in ball possession can make use of the neutral players at any time (5v3 numerical superiority situation)
- The objective of the execution is to look for a pass on the movement of the teammate (even of the joker) within the corridor between the smaller and the larger area; this can occur after a minimum of five consecutive passes within the smaller playing area
- The point is valid if the ball is controlled within the area between the two squares (corridor)
Rules
- All players have a maximum of three touches
- After the first series, change the players who serve as jokers
- When a team scores a point, the ball passes to opponents who resume play
Variations
- A player from the team not in possession of the ball may follow the opponent outside the small square to close off any passing line
- Decrease or increase the playing area according to the age, number, and ability of players
Coaching Points
- Exercise useful to train movements according to the position of teammates
- Encourage players to maintain possession of the ball until their teammate's movement
- Encourage players to create as many passing lines as possible for the ball carrier with continuous movement in the “free zone” (mobility)
- Take care of the timing of unmarking in space
- Encourage continuous and intense pressure in the non-possession phase
